FLEXIBLE ENDOSCOPIC ASSESSMENT OF SWALLOWING WITH HANDS-ON TRAINING
1.5 ASHA CEUs
INTERMEDIATE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL
LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Participants will identify a minimum of three ASHA guidelines, for Speech Language Pathologists performing endoscopic procedures.
2. Participants will identify a minimum of three contraindications for safety when performing a Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) procedure.
3. Participants will identify a minimum of two differences between a modified barium swallow and a FEES procedure. Knowledge of this information is essential when the Speech Language Pathologist is needed to identify the appropriate procedure, whether fluoroscopy or nasoendoscopy.
4. With supervision, participants will conduct normal passes with the nasoendoscopy scope safely on each other. Speech-Language Pathologists will gain technical experience, which will be applied to patient anatomy.
5. Participants will identify CPT codes for a FEES procedure.
